Orphans and Vulnerable Children
As a part of the ministry outreach of Kingdom Community Church, we take a special interest in the caring for orphans and other vulnerable children (OVCs). This takes the form of helping the caretaker with food security, proper clothing, and when possible, school uniforms and fees.
More than half the population of Zambia has been determined to be 15 years of age and younger, with most of that number being orphans. It is an ongoing and growing problem due to the AIDS pandemic.
Bridge is also helping OVCs in the area of education with the establishment of a community school in March of 2007. As work on the new headquarters develops, it is our plan to construct ten homes for orphans. Each home would house up to six orphans with a caretaker. We feel this will give them more of the feel of family rather than being raised in an institutional setting. If you wish to be a part of this, please contact us.
