Kasongo
When we first began working in Kasongo it was an illegal squatter area that fell under the jurisdiction of the Luanshya Council. It had a diverse population of those who were marketers, charcoal burners, and subsistence farmers in what would be considered a peri-urban area.
After some time, and with the cooperation of our core Bridge Committee, we contacted the Luanshya Council and everyone worked together until it was upgraded to a legal settlement in 2006.
As a result of this, Bridge was given the opportunity to purchase land on which to develop our national headquarters.
